In memory of my guy, John, who certainly does walk within me, photos taken exactly two years ago today:
This one called “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”

Walk Within You”

If I be the first of us to die,

The dead live on forever in the living.
And all the gathered riches of our journey,
The moments shared, the mysteries explored,
The Steady layering of intimacy stored;
The things that made us laugh or weep or sing,
The joy of sunlit snow or first unfurling of the spring.
The wordless language of look and touch,
The knowing each giving and each taking;
These are not flowers that fade,
Nor trees that fall and crumble,
Nor are they stone, for even stone cannot the wind and rain withstand
And mighty mountain peaks in time reduce to sand.
What we were, we are—-What we had, we have.
A conjoined past imperishably present.
So when you walk the woods where once we walked together
And scan in vain the dappled bank beside you for my shadow,
Or pause where we always did upon the hill to gaze across the land
And spotting something, reach by habit for my hand,
And finding none, feel sorrow start to steal upon you;
Be still, close your eyes. Breathe,
And listen for the footfall in your heart.
I am not gone but merely walk within you.

I’m looking forward to Portland Japanese Garden’s annual Hina Matsuri. This year it would be fun to have Anneka and Thea along to get some photos of them viewing the exhibit. Here is a picture from last year’s:

Little Sis Thea had to follow:

She stopped to look right into the lense, so we could both have some fun at the same time

Anneka liked playing in the tree so much I wondered why they’d never given it a thought in the many years they have been here!

The Tree Tribe was back up the same tree in August!

Spring brought on many walks and photo ops

I called this one “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” Taken the beginning of May, it shows John and Jake coming w/ me on my search of signs of spring to shoot w/ my Nikon D40X.

Jake did alot of growing up over the winter and has been a delight to photograph!

Here’s Jake with John (Jake’s the dog, btw) and you can see how he has grown and now has such a long, lovely coat.

This is the last day of April, and after a warm sunny weekend we have more signs of spring.

Today brings memories of John’s good friend, our neighbor Bud Felker, who passed on so unexpectedly this day a year ago. Bud was one of the finest men anyone could hope to know. He is sorely missed by his friends, his neighbors, and most of all his wonderful family. Those three adult children and five grandkids are a living tribute to the influence Bud had on others’ lives. He set an example for us all and made this world a better place.
